Just stuff

Saturday was spent trying to chase sunshine.

Despite the big chill, the garden seemed to be trying its hardest to convince me that Spring was just around the corner. Big fat buds on the fruit trees, bulbs peeping out of the ground...

Confound it...silly garden inspired me to get stuck into some preemptive spring cleaning. Bang went my lazy Saturday! The whole house got a good going over, including polishing the antique furniture. Crazy business!

Sunday morning I took the boys into the city to let the Husband have a much needed sleep in. We wandered around sipping mango smoothies and munched on popcorn. The boys stood on the fence rail and watched with envy as kids rode the beautiful old carousel in the middle of the mall. Harry always longs to have a turn but can never quite pluck up the courage. Jack...well, he'd be leaping from the back of one horse to another if I let him.

We managed, (thank goodness) to find a replacement 'blankie' for Jack in Myer. His old one fell into a pile of moth eaten (or toddler eaten if we're being honest) rags that morning. I'm not ready to do away with his security blanket. Harry never had one but Jack can't sleep without his. It's also been a godsend in keeping him chilled out in the pram during the gazillion hospital appointments I've had to drag him along to this year. So...what is his blankie? An expensive cotten scarf from Design Studio. Little blighter. He could have chosen a cheaper one to claim as his own! Still...I'm happy to feed his habit for now. It's just one little thing that makes life a bit easier.

After our little outing we had a relaxing afternoon at home, hiding inside away from the freezing wind and stuffing ourselves with custard creams straight from the oven.

Not a thrilling weekend...but a contented one.
