Vantastic giveaway!

I'm in a great mood...genetic counselling went really well this morning.

I'm a bit of an oddity in the realm of genetic testing...but a good oddbod...a lovable one at that! I'm a candidate because I'm considered to be young to get breast cancer...but I don't meet any of the other requirements. There is no family history of cancer, cancer was only found in one breast and its not triple negative. The outcome being that the chances of it being a faulty gene is very low. Yay! It also means that my sisters and nieces have nothing to worry about for quite some time and by the time they should be thinking about this the science will have improved out of sight in terms of testing and analysis. Double Yay!!

To celebrate this snippet of good news Puddleducklane is having a giveaway!

Fellow Aussie Blogger Kate Ulman has just launched her first book...

Vantastic

Retro caravan holidays in the modern world.

Kate's blog, Fox's Lane, has been one of my favourite reads for quite some time. I want one of you, my beloved readers, to enjoy the gorgeousness of Kate's world bound in this beautiful book!

To win a copy just leave a comment at the end of this post telling me of your favourite childhood holiday.

Mine was going to Great Keppel Island on the Great Barrier Reef. We went there several times during my childhood. We stayed in a cabin, went snorkelling, bushwalking, rode paddle boats, spent hours exploring the rock pools, made sandcastles and played with other kids on the beach, went spotlighting at night to find possums...and it was where I went para sailing...totally amazing and completely terrifying at the same time. I'll never forget how I face planted in the sand when I landed on the beach and was applauded by a large boat load of tourists. Hilarious...

Looking forward to hearing about yours.

I'll announce who the lucky winner is this Saturday!

Until then, feast your senses on Kate's gorgeous little film.

xxx Em

  1. I'm in the USA, so we call it vacation :) But... I loved going camping as a child. It even more exciting then going to Disney. Camping meant we had nowhere to be, no schedule to follow, and campfires with S'MOREs :)

  2. Hi Em,
Favourite family holidays - hmmm we didn't have hoidays much as my parents were dairy farmers and not very rich ones at that :)

A couple of times we went to Lennox Head in NSW - we lived in Maleny, Qld - wow..what wonderful times we had. We didn't get to the beach that often normally so to spend a week a the beach was wonderful. I was quite young but I remember the sand and sea and shells. Shells were the best thing ever!! I would collect so many every day and never would I let anyone make me throw any out. I would take them back to our home in Maleny and put them all over my dressing table...it must have drove my Mum mad!! One year when we went there was another little girl and her family staying in the flat underneath the holiday house we were in. I remember that she and I played together the entire holiday. How lovely to make a new friend on holidays. Ha! I just realised I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat now as I remember those times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane :) Gaye

    1. Well hello fellow Sunshine Coaster!!!

I grew up in Buderim and spent countless weekends driving up the range to hang out at Lake Baroon and Mary Cairncross Park. One of my favourite places in the world! Poets Cafe in Montville was a favourite coffee haunt too. My family still lives on the coast and its always so good to go back home and visit.

      Happy days xx

  3. Oh now you've got me - Mary Cairncross Park!!! Ohhhh such a place of my childhood. We went there all the time and every year the church picnic was held there. One of the rare baby photos of me - third child photo-taking syndrome - is when I was about 18mths old and I was crying in front of the swing sets that used to be near the kiosk. My sisters and I went there last weekend as we had a trip down memory lane to remember our Mum who died suddenly 30years ago. It's always lovely to hear how much others love it too. Gaye xx
