Breakfast at Birubi.

We're home from a lovely weekend away at my brother's place.

Loved watching the kids play together.

Loved watching our family feasting at the one big table.

Loved playing card games and swapping stories.

Loved breakfast at Birubi Beach to celebrate my brothers birthdays.

Loved snatching an extra coffee & conversation with my little sister.

The girls are coming to stay next week and I can't wait. Never get enough time with my family so we'll be having a whole lot of fun while they're here.

Love school hols!

A Christmas Tale

Once upon a time, one Christmas Eve, there was a Mummy who indulged in a glass...or four...(or was it five?) of some very yummy champagne.
The Mummy was not match fit when it came to consuming bubbles.
The Mummy woke up Christmas morning feeling rather hungover, a feeling she hadn't known for a good decade. It was a very subdued Mummy who watched the kidlets open their presents. The Mummy took all morning to recover, but recover she did and the family enjoyed a fine feast and a looooong nana nap that afternoon. They even ventured out into the night to look at the Christmas lights.

Moral of the story...
Mummy needs to put in the training if she wants to down a bottle of the finest bubbles with friends and bounce back bright and breezy the next morning.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Wishes

Well Lovelies...here's cheers to the end of the year!

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings.

Thank you for every email and comment and question and message of support throughout the year.

I am soaking up every wonderful moment of this Christmas...with the deepest gratitude that I am still here, two years after diagnosis, feeling that the worst is behind me and the new year will bring me that much closer to remission. I treasure the friendships I have made through this blog.

They've been such a gift!

I'm wishing you a Christmas filled with a whole lot of sparkle and joy.

I'm sending you much love for a bright and bold New Year.

Merry Christmas Beloved

xx Em

Christmas in the City

Last night we took the boys into the city to look at the Christmas Lights.

The vintage carousel was ablaze and packed with excited kidlets.

We feasted on gelato from Via Dolce.

And immersed ourselves in the glow of more than a million fairy lights from the world's largest LED christmas light display. It was magical for the adults but it was ten times more magical for the kids.

In the spirit of Christmas, all the money raised goes to SIDS and Kids ACT. My hat goes off to David Richards, SIDS and Kids ACT and the small army of lighting architects, engineers, designers and volunteers that made it happen. They've done an astounding job!

This is what makes Christmas so wonderful for me...community, family, the spirit of giving, everything that is colourful and joyful and bright.

And let's face it...

....you can never have too many twinkle lights!

A blackberrying we will go...

'For a full week, the blackberries would ripen.
At first, just one, a glossy purple clot
Among others, red, green, hard as a knot.
You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened wine: summer's blood was in it
Leaving stains upon the tongue and lust for Picking.
Then red ones inked up and that hunger
Sent us out with milk cans, pea tins, jam-pots
Where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots.'

"Blackberry Picking" by Seamus Heaney

I love that there's always something ready to pick in our garden. Just as the cherries finish up, the blackberries begin and...well...they're a mouthful of WOW! An explosion of early summer on the tastebuds.

Though at the rate that these juicy gems are disappearing into little mouths, there won't be any left to go into the jams, muffins and pies I'd planned.
