Earlier this week I took the boys to the new Pod Playground at the National Arboretum.
The playground opened a couple of weeks ago so I thought we'd give it a test run. When we left home at 9am it was sunny, by the time we got to Lake Burleigh Griffin we could see fog rolling in from the Brindabellas. Five minutes later we were shrouded in white as we wound our way up the hill. Ahhhh, have to love Canberra in Winter! It was jolly cold but we were determined to hit the playground, those giant Acorns were far too tempting!
Alas we only lasted twenty minutes. Harry got stage fright at the top of one of the slides but when I attempted to help him down, the Jackman would run off or start climbing ladders, (yeah, thanks all you other parents who stood by & watched without offering to help...nitwits!). By the time I finally managed to coax Harry down, both kids were crying, we were frozen and the new playground had lost its shine. Admitting defeat, I took my two wailing banshees straight home. Driving back Harry suggested in all seriousness that I should've tied Jack's legs together so that he couldn't run away.
Laughed. My. Ass. Off.
Today we went back to give it another whirl, but this time we brought reinforcements in the form of Daddy, (and enough rope to hogtie the Jackman, just in case). It was a much warmer morning and it seemed every family in Canberra had the same idea. Busy!
With a one-kid-per-adult ratio we had such a great time.
Totally love that little girl's hat!
When we'd had our fill of acorn fun we jumped back in the car and headed up Dairy Farmer's Hill to check out the view.
Completely adore this sculpture...you can see it jutting out from miles away.
Hide and seek anyone?
A rare but cheesy family snap taken by a very kind but very insistent stranger.
The Arboretum has become one of our favourite places to visit.
Have a gorgeous weekend Peeps!
What a beautiful day! This brings back memories of when my four sons were little and we went on excursions... many, many, many years ago. Thanks for the smiles!
ReplyDeleteFour boys! I think I'll be asking you for advice on bringing up little men in the future!
