In good time.

He was anxious about losing his first tooth.

Worried that it might bleed or hurt. He had hoped it would come out on Christmas Day but Christmas came and went...so then he hoped for New Years Day. He wouldn't let us near it. Not even his dental hygienist Aunt could convince him to let her pull it out. So we left him to it. We've learnt that Harry needs to do things in his own time.

And sure enough, yesterday, that teeny tiny baby tooth came out of its own accord...and it didn't bleed...and it didn't hurt. He was a little bit amazed and quietly proud of himself for not freaking out. I adore these big milestone moments in my kids' lives but mostly I love taking in the little moments that go with them. Like the poster he made for his cousins to read when they arrived yesterday afternoon.

These are the moments that make me feel privileged to be a mummy.

And I'm so glad there'll be many more to come!

xx Em

  1. Awww! What an adorable smile! It's natural for kids to fear new situations, so that's probably why Harry was pretty anxious about his loose tooth. At least now that he knows it doesn't hurt, his next loose tooth will be more of an exciting experience for him, than a feared one. Here's to a healthy set of pearly whites for your kids, Em! Cheers! :)
