Tea under the trees

I love Yarralumla, and Yarralumla in Autumn is just stunning!

Harry & I enjoyed tea with my lovely friend Lisa & her gorgeous Little Miss at the Yarralumla Gallery this afternoon.

The cafe is in the original manager's cottage in the grounds of the historic Yarralumla Nursery, established in 1913 by the Commonwealth Government to supply trees & plants to make Canberra a garden city.

The garden surrounding the cottage is a rambling affair filled with camellias & ivy covered trees. The cafe is dog friendly so Harry & Savannah entertained themselves by taking photos of the many & varied four legged furry friends in the garden while Lisa and I had a delightful chat over cups of English Breakfast.

The sprawling grounds are home to some beautiful old trees and the kids found a great one for climbing.

I've been reading Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree to Harry lately and he was convinced that we'd stumbled across the real deal.

He was certain that we would find Moonface, Silky & the Angry Pixie living in the trunk if we climbed high enough and he spent the whole drive home chattering about what magic lands he would find at the top. It was precious.

This morning I had the pleasure of taking photos of Lisa's newly renovated house to be featured on her Bella Vie Interiors blog. She is a fabulous interior designer and I can't help but be inspired. Happy days... Xx Em.
