These are his people.

This weekend was Harry’s weekend to hang out with “his people” at the Canberra Model Railway Expo.
It’s such a wonderful event and Harry was very much in his happy place. Jack tagged along with us on Saturday and was impressed for approximately 30 mins before declaring that that he was ready to go home. Six year olds...not exactly renown for their attention spans...but seriously dude...they’re TRAINS! Sheesh!
Still, he stuck with us until Harry was ready to go two hours later. There were so many different layouts to see and so many people to ask for advice on track construction and engine types. Harry is a great observer and his brain was absorbing a WHOLE LOT during the morning. We managed to squeeze in a miniature train ride on the way to the car too.

Today we left Jack at home with Daddy and spent half the day looking at it all again. But this time...oh, this time Harry’s dream came true when one of the lovely blokes from the Canberra Monaro N Scale Group asked him to take control of his favourite train...the XPT CountryLink Explorer.

I was so immensely grateful for that kindness...it made this proud mummy’s heart swell because I know that this experience will stay with Harry for a very long time and he will draw on it for comfort when he’s struggling.
Gosh we left on such a high and full of inspiration to continue building up Harry’s HO scale collection.

Huge thanks to the Canberra Model Railway Club for another great event.

Postcard from the living.

Four seasons have come and passed us again.

Our kids have grown lankier, funnier, more creative.

We’re still here.

I dreamt last night of the baby I lost and today I so dearly wanted to call you to talk about her.

But you are gone.

There’s an ache in my throat that just won’t go away.

You are gone.

You are gone.

We’re still here.

Piecing ourselves back together after The Shattering.

One year on.

The Missing, it stings.

Even when The Living is sweet.

Wishing you were here Rach.

Follow the light.

Last night I ventured out to Enlighten for a night photography class with Penny Koukoulas Photography.
The class was a birthday gift from my husband and it was such tremendous fun, (thanks Husband, I think I’ll keep you).

It was the perfect autumn evening for our little group to wander about the parliamentary triangle and snap away at the illuminated iconic buildings. I’d always felt intimidated by night photography but Penny’s teaching style really set me at my ease. Ten minutes into the class I’d forgotten to be nervous and was simply enjoying myself, by the end of the two hours I was well and truly hooked.

So...here is a taste of what I captured last night. Enjoy!
